FOOTBALL
OUTWEIGHED by practically every team competed with, the Presidents put up a good fight and although they won only four out of the eleven games played, they were by no means outclassed.
Only nine lettermen returned to the squad from last year. This was a considerably low number. Although the other players didn’t receive letters, they deserve credit for without their support the team could not have been a success.
The season as a whole was not very successful and it came to a close Thanksgiving day when the Presidents met Youngstown, Ohio. The game was played on a muddy field, first one team getting the breaks then the other. The Youngstown team was more powerful and the score at the end of the game stood 6-0 in favor of Ohio, the Presidents receiving credit for a hard fought game.
The 1939 football team has prospects for a fine season under the direction of the new coach, Ernest A. Wild.
