Mr. Hathaway looks very sad and depressed as well he may, He just lost his eldest teenage daughter.  She got off a bus on High Street and proceeded to cross the street in front of the bus and was struck by a car passing the bus.  Accident occurred in front of the Hathaway Home.

Lem shoveled many a ton of coal to keep eight coal fired furnaces stoked.  He and Jake Codd and L. C. Padden often sat together in the furnace room during a "Smoke-Break".
