WILSON IN 1972
This season was a year of rebuilding. As many starters graduated and others went to different schools. Ed Bulheller took over the job as head coach and was forced to start from scratch with new players.
The Presidents got off to a slow start losing to Western Branch, Churchland, Indian River and Norview but showed improvement in each game. Wilson got on the winning side of the record with a homecoming victory over Oscar Smith 8-0. In a highly defensive game and the first real cold game of the season, Deep Creek and Wilson tied 0-0. The President then lost to distrrict champs Great Bridge and to Norcom. Wilson started rolling again with victories in the last two
games over Cradock 27-7 and Granby 14-8. The Presidents finished with a 3-6-1 record but the last two with many young players returning.

With Wilson starting off with a four game winning streak, the Prexies went on to an impressive 12-6 record overall and a repectable 5-4 district total. With the majority of the team made of Juniors and Sophomores, our experience was shown to be lacking at times. As the season wore on, the hard work, determination and the gaining of experience became more and more evident with victories as a reward.
This June will see the graduation of only two Seniors and next year will promise to be the beginning of a Wilson dynasty in basketball.

Western Branch High School.  Wilson lost to Churchland by the
score of 77 - 60.  Our offense was led by Calvin Brown with 19
points and LaRue Harrington with 15 points.  Charles Coleman
and Nonnie Rodgers led the defense by blocking shots and re-
bounding at both ends of the court.
