SUMMARY
Finishing the season with 11 wins and 7 losses, Coach "Phess" Woodson's Wilson quint waxed hot and lukewarm in turn. Paced by Captain Billy O'Brien at the pivot spot, the Prexies constantly offered a threat to every team in the Eastern District and prided themselves on breaking a Maury and Granby jinx, yet could not break into a title spot in the standings. The loss of "Potsy" Klise through injuries was a definite casualty to the five, but Al Kilpatrick's clever ballhandling and accurate set shots, George Pendergraft's consistent play, "Bullet" Alexander's defensive play, "Nut" Borjes excellent floor play, and Tommy Lucado's ability to come through with the points were great assets to a fighting aggregation.
All glory is due that scrappy little bunch, the Diminutive Demons, who went undefeated after playing almost all the preliminary games affording may thrills to the audience.
Coach "Phess" Woodson found himself surrounded by a large group of promising aspirants at the beginning of this baseball season. Included in this group were lettermen at almost every position, and some good prospects from the American Legion team. Lettermen returning were: "Lefty" Robertson, Jack James, Clinton Felton, Jimmy Traynham, Billy Farris, John Rock, "Beachie" Johnson, Al Kilpatrick, "Cat" Smith, and "Scotchy" Bristow.

Even before Christmas some of the stalwarts of Coach Howard Masr's track team found themselves furnished with equipment and running in the bleak mid-winter. Came the spring, however, and others joined the square to swell the group of candidates. Many new boys were out to strengthen the returning veterans who were: Billy O'Brien, Wallace McCarry, Burrell Johnson, "Cotton" Hay the, Frank KIadigan, George Pendergraft, J esse Ricks, Eddie Duke, Charles Sawyer, Gary Sears, Julian Foster, Jack Benzie, John Acton, Bobby Borum, Howard Borum, "Duke" Johnson, Clyde Tanner, and "Slim" Parker. Promising boys included: Jimmy Alexander, Bill Prince, and Bill Jones.
For many of us our last game in Orange and Blue colors is ended.
The game of life, however, is just under way, and we want to play it
like champions-to turn it into a glorious victory, not a gloomy or half-hearted defeat.
Like all athletes, we must live as a team. There may be stars In our line-up, but we win only when we play "all for one, and one
or all." We will have our "off" days and our "on" days, but we should never lose our fighting spirit. We've learned that we must live, as we play, according to the rules. We must keep on learning, keep on developing, for "When we're green, we grow; when we think we're ripe, we begin to get rotten."
We must live up to the hopes of those who are rooting for us: our teachers, our families, our friends, Finally, we must never lose contact with the Great Coach who constantly challenges us to do our best, who urges us always:
"Play up, play up, and play the game!"
