Varsity Football
Beginning with a rousing 32-0 victory over Western Branch the Presidents’ football team had another outstanding year capping off the action with a Southeastern District Championship. Oscar Smith dented the winning streak by defeating the Presidents a depressing 19-7 but the next week the Presidents rebounded beautifully by defeating Cradock 46-0 and had the Championship firmly in hand.
The season ended with a loss to Arch-rival Great Bridge. The Presidents travelled next to First Colonial for the regional playoffs. A flawless First Colonial denied the team of a State Championship with a defeat of 35-0.
The 7-3 final record was achieved by successful aerial attack led by Johnnie Ealey throwing and the receiving of Gary Harris, Reginald Collins, and Kevin Brown.
The defense was once again ranked as Tidewater’s best and was anchored by Leslie Harris, Ike Carrol, Mark Matthews, Carlton Thomas, Rylent Jenkins, Anthony
Horton, Jim Smith and Avis Jordan.
The leadership of the team was provided by the tri-captains Cliff Gainey, Leslie Harris, and William Maye.

The Prexie offense proved itself mighty averaging 20 points per game. At the Helm was co-captain Shawn Nelson who's arm and running ability accounted for fourteen of the teams touch- downs.
The defense proved to be a stone wall throughout the season allowing only 36 points in 8 games.
