Well into the city meet Nathaniel Wright shows the form that won him first place.
Because of the small numbers of members the main con-centration was on individual events.  Success was hampered by the midseason injuryof Iola Faulks who was the team's only 800 meter runner one of the 400 meter runners at the city meet. Regina Hawkins tied a record for the long jump with a distance 0f 16 feet 5 inches.  She als took first place in the high jump and thjird in the 100 meter runand second in the 100 meter hurdles. At the district meet Hawkins moved to the fore front again winning first place in the high jump and tying the hurdles record.  At the regional meet she took second in the high jump and qualified for the state meet in all three events.

Golf team members George Burgess, Mike Goodman, Andrew Schmidt, and Coach Hopkins.
Golf:  "We had hope to do better," said Coach Hopkins of his team.  "Maybe to have won three or four matches. This district is strong in golf with State Champion Manor." The team lost to Norcom in the regular season but came back to beat them in the district Tourney.
   This season's standout was Andrew Schmidt who qualified for regionals and Most Valuable Player.
   Season's record was 2-7.
The Tennis Team's second seeded Natjaniel Wright, Coach McEachern, and Frist seeded Mark Flanders not pictured are Curtis Edwards and Karen Henderson.
Tennis: This year saw one returning player for the tennis team Mark Flanders, who beat Oscar Smith and Cradock and doubles teamed with Nathaniel Wright beat Oscar Smith, Cradock, and Great Bridge.  This year also had a promising Freshman, Curtis Edwards who beat Oscar Smith, Cradock, and Churchland in singles matches.  Also on the team was Karen Henderson who won  one singles match against Norcom.
