   The fighting Presidents once again captured the State AAA Football Championship for Division 5.  Rumors about E.C. Glass prompted many fans to attend the game which was held at Western Branch's stadium.  There they witnessed Wilson's 43-9 victory over E. C. Glass.  With this, Wilson improved their record to 14-0 for the year!
    In the playoffs, Wilson defeated Indian River (20-14), Norcom (21-0), and John Marshall (34-0).  Wilson was ranked as the best team in the East Coach Region by a national panel of sports writers, and number 15 in the national by the same group.  They were also ranked number 12 in the nation by USA Today.
    Members of the team to make Portsmouth's All-City First Team were R. Boone, V. Edwards, V. Moore, K. Johnson, J. Whitfield, B. Deloatch (Offense), L. Trotter, R. Boone, K. Johnson, "R. Hicks, C. Swann (Defense), Second Team members were C. Moore, D. Sparrow (Offense), C. Cradle (Defense).
    Karriem Johnson was All-State on both Offense and Defense.

TENNIS 
 The 1991 team was the first girls’ tennis team for Wilson. All but one member (Lanita Rosenberg) had never played tennis until August, and the matches began on September 17, 1991. Lanita Rosenberg and Antoinette Debrough went to the finals in the district tournament. Several members of the team have re-
ceived awards for the 1991 season. The “Most Valuable Player” was Lanita Rosenberg; the “Most Improved Player” was Antoinette Debrough”; the “Most Helpful” were Carl Carter and Lailani Guinto.
