BASEBALL
1991 Varsity 
Baseball Team 
   The Varsity Baseball team was coached by Coach McGinley and Coach Rea. The players were Richard Price, Cliff Carden, Allen Cotton, Aaron Bell, Eric Pond, Adam Carroll, Todd Brooks, Vernon Ballard, Corey Gause, Chien Fu Wu, Rodney Southall, and Tim Burkett. Their record for the season was 6 wins and 8 losses. The M.V.P. award and Big 122 Stick award went to Richard Price. Vernon Ballard won the Golden Glove and also had a 447 E.R.A. Rodney Southall batted 333 and had a .946 Defensive Average. Eric Pond had a .877 Def. Ave. at second base. Corey Gause and Richard Price made All-Southeastern District in the outfield. Todd Brooks made Southeastern District Honorable Mention.

  The Wrestling Team did quite well this year under the direction of Head Coach Tim Bonds and Assistant Coach Haywood Cooper. The team plac-ed second in the Annual Portsmouth Wrest-ling Christmas Tournament. Six wrestlers placed first in their weight classes: Lashley — 103, Pond — 112, Beavers — 130, Stevenson — 140, Carden — 152, Sanderliln — 160. Cummings placed second and Artis, Andrews and Lewis placed fifth. 
   The team placed sixth in the District with a record of 4-5-0 and their overall record was 7-12-0. Individual season records were: Lashley (103) 18-4-0, Dunn (112) 10-7-0, Pond (119) 14-3-1, Artis (125) 8-10-0, Beavers (130) 13-4-0, Andrews (135) 6-10- 0, Stevenson (140) 1-4-0, Muhammad (145) 1-2-0, Sanderlin (160) 16-3-0, White (189) 3-2-0, Cummings (189) 4-2-1, Banks (UNL) 2-1-0.
